The majority of the move is expected to happen in the early hours of the morning, in an effort to minimize disruption to passengers but officials of both LAX and the airlines have been working hard to notify the public of the changes, while additional staff are present to offer support and guidance to customers during the move.
If you're headed to the airport, it's a good idea first to check directly with your airline to make sure you'll be going to the correct terminal.
Now they get to do it in private when flying in and out of Los Angeles International Airport.
That was the assessment from LAX spokeswoman Katherine Alvarado, surveying the aftermath of the overnight, partial relocation of one major airline - Delta - and several smaller carriers. Previously, the three big USA carriers: Delta, American, and United all utilized the south side of the airport, which led to delays and congestion at the gates.
"Due to outdated information, it was incorrectly stated that Delta was also moving gates out of Terminal 6 ...", an LAX statement said.
"Well, I started apparently at Terminal 2, and then they told me to walk all the way around - take the shuttle - which everybody is doing, it's pretty insane, so going to Terminal 6 now to catch my flight", flier Sean Leedy told KCAL9 Saturday morning.
Travellers taking worldwide flights are being asked to arrive four hours ahead, while domestic passengers need to arrive three hours early.
Billed as "LAX on the MOVE", what may be one of the biggest airline terminal relocations in USA aviation history began Friday night, and featured eight airlines moving to different terminals overnight on Saturday. Travelers are advised to plan to arrive for their flights earlier than usual and check with their airlines in advance about the correct terminal.
"Our Guest Experience Team is ready to help any and all passengers find their way throughout LAX in the coming days", Daly said. Delta flights arrived and departed at Terminals 3, 5 and 6 on Saturday, and were scheduled to complete their move to Terminals 2 and 3, on the north side of the airport loop, this week.
