A Coast Guard cutter was dispatched to the area and was expected to arrive later Tuesday to assist with the search.
The search continues for a Manhattan woman and her two children after their plane went missing in the Bahamas.
The MU-2B airplane heading to Titusville, Florida lost radar and radio contact just after 2 p.m., about 37 miles east of Eleuthera, Bahamas, according to the Coast Guard.
The craft is reported to be carrying New Yorkers Nathan Ulrich and Jennifer Blumin and the latter's two sons, aged four and 10.
"We are still searching and that search is going to go on through the night and into tomorrow", Kelly said.
A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew has located a debris field approximately 15 miles east Eleuthera, Bahamas.
The Coast Guard corrected its initial information on Ulrich to say he was from New Hampshire, not New York City.
In a tweet, actress Rae Dawn Chong said he is her ex-husband.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this story gave the incorrect home state for Nathan Ulrich based on information provided by the Coast Guard.
The plane was travelling over the Bermuda Triangle when it disappeared. So send prayers to his family.
According to reports, he has flown privately for Blumin and her family, but authorities do not know if he was flying at the time.
"The event industry was controlled for so many years by big hotels with corporate meeting spaces and ballrooms", she told the Daily News in 2011. "We create mystique, and help them spread it virally".
Ulrich is a co-founder of Xootr, a New York-based company that manufactures scooters and folding bicycles.
