The Spicer sketch began with cast member Aidy Bryant playing Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House aide who subbed for Spicer for a few days last week. Incredulous, Spicer takes his podium to New York City, eventually finding his boss at a New Jersey golf course.
"Oh, I did? That's weird", Martin replied, brushing him off before moving back onto McCarthy.
McCarthy then joined the female castmembers in a delightfully weird sketch in which Suburban moms force their new neighbor to choose an animal that represents her, while Kyle Mooney and Leslie Jones explored their relationship problems in a video segment.
"I have to say something here, Donald Trump, if you're watching".
However, Spicer soon fell into a disillusioned despair after a number of reporters asked him if he'd ever considered the possibility that Trump has been lying to him and feeding him dishonest information.
Baldwin opened the episode with his Trump impression as well, lampooning the president's controversial interview with Lester Holt (Michael Che). Trump might be canceling the Spicer show. Footage of her dressed as the White House spokesman while driving his podium through the streets of NY leaked a few days ago, building anticipation for her appearance.
"I'm pretty sure I can see him hiding in those bushes?" one confused reporter said, as Spicer was peering through the windows into the press conference.
That first sketch reportedly unsettled the White House and bothered Trump so much that some questioned its impact on Spicey's longevity in the job. Weekend UpdateWeekend Update spent about half its time on the firing of James Comey, whom Trump called "a showboat". Because he told us so.
"Yes", Mr Trump confirmed, before the pair share a passionate embrace and kiss.
"Sean, come on. I would never do that", Baldwin's Trump insists.
"I have a wife, I took vows", McCarthy's Spicer answers.
"I guess the L.A Times said that somebody had seen one alongside the highway down by Santa Monica, and some other guy went over in Washington D.C. and got his picture outside the Watergate hotel", Kadonaga told The Canadian Press Sunday night.
