Actress Melissa McCarthy on Friday made an appearance on 58th Street in NY, driving a motorized version of the White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer's podium.
This is 58th Street, and that is Melissa McCarthy, decked out in full Sean Spicer regalia, riding the podium like a giant segway to her final destination.
When former FBI Director James Comey's firing was accounted earlier in the week, Spicer hid in some bushes on White House grounds on Tuesday night to avoid reporters.
She's had us living for her spot-on Sean Spicer impression all season, but McCarthy is actually hosting Saturday Night Live on May 13, so it was practically guaranteed that the show was going to take things to the next level.
You weren't seeing things if you thought you spotted White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer outside CNN's New York City offices Friday. Others, though, delight in McCarthy's portrayal of Spicer as an unhinged, angry purveyor of the president's lies. Previous versions have featured McCarthy charging the press with her mobile podium, but this will be the first time that the prop has left the faux-press room.
However, the Post then offered a correction, stating that Spicer was "among the bushes" not 'in the bushes'. McCarthy could be heard yelling at moving cars to get out of the way while filming a "SNL" skit as "Spicey".
His own job security has been rumored to be in jeopardy after White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was given generally high marks for her fill-in duties.
The shoot was most likely for a skit airing this Saturday, as McCarthy returns to host Saturday Night Live.
This week's "SNL" episode will once again air coast-to-coast, meaning fans on the west coast get to watch it at 8:30 p.m. while east-coast viewers are seeing it in its normal 11:30 p.m. time slot.
This all happened just hours before Spicer is set to make his actual return to the White House on Friday after being noticeably absent ever since President Trump made the decision to fire Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey.
